OSRT Search and Rescue K-9s Wow Atwood Fall Festival Attendees

October, 2021 - Mansfield, Ohio – Press Release: The Ohio Special Response Search & Rescue Team (OSRT) announces members of the search and rescue team contributed time and expertise during the Atwood Fall Festival October 1st-3rd. Team members introduced 7 of their Search and Rescue K-9s to the public. As part of the introductory activities, OSRT members discussed with children and parents the basic actions children can take should they become lost.


SRT's K-9s are highly trained to search for missing individuals in all manner of terrain. The team conducts searches around the state. These talented animals have capabilities that include ground scent, air scent, water scent, and human remains.


The Ohio Special Response Team is the state’s most comprehensively credentialed search and rescue team, approved by the state Emergency Management Agency and qualified as a FEMA Emergency Support Function #9 Search and Rescue Team. Team members complete extensive training via FEMA, Homeland Security, National Association for Search & Rescue, Mountain Rescue Association, American Standards 2209, and others.
