OSRT Search and Rescue Team Members Gain Top Mountain Rescue Association Certification

Captains Bill Ryan and Alan Plastow of the Ohio Special Response Search and Rescue Team have qualified for the nationally recognized Mountain Rescue Association Search Team Member Credential. The 105.1 search and rescue (SAR) certification has been achieved by fewer than 3% of Ohio's various volunteer search team members.

Training to gain the 105.1 certification includes over 60 courses in ASTM 2209 credential as well as use of the National Incident Management System for managing the training, pre-planning and response infrastructure of national and local disasters and search and rescue incidents.

The Ohio Special Response Search and Rescue Team, a 501(c)3 headquartered in Mansfield, Ohio with 7 units around the state, is the single non-profit volunteer Ohio SAR team credentialed in the Federal Emergency Management Administration's (FEMA) Emergency Support Function 9, Job Type 35, Wilderness Search and Rescue.

Bill Ryan is a resident of Louisville, Ohio and is employed by the Waters Corporation of Milford, MA. Alan Plastow is also a resident of Louisville and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Akron.
