OSRT Operator, Travis Newberg, Completes Tactical Emergency Casualty Care Program.

November, 2023: Ohio Special Response Team Operator, Travis Newberg recently complete the rigorous two day TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) training. TECC follows the military's TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) guidelines but is developed for civilians instead of the military. The program also included operations specific to RTF (Rescue Task Force), which is comprised of teams of medics escorted by law enforcement going into the warm zone (area of indirect threat) of an emergency to provide medical care for the wounded.

In Travis’ words: “I wanted to supplement my current medical training of First Aid/CPR/AED and WFR (Wilderness First Responder) with additional emergency care. TECC provides additional skills I've been wanting to learn, provides additional exposure to skills I had already learned, and provides live stress inoculation actions to ensure I can not only act (rather than chance freezing), if ever, in an actual real world situation, but also act appropriately and effectively.”

Ohio Special Response Team personnel are continually involved in advanced training delivered by such entities as the United States Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, FEMA, Homeland Security, Mountain Rescue Association, and National Association for Search and Rescue.
